Why always Edinburgh? Sometimes I think I would give anything to live in this amazing place .... Yet where would I then feel at home without being at home? Where would I run to? There is little doubt that I am in love with this city. This time there was an unexpected meeting, wonderful music.... we watched words snake up walls.... worlds evolve in globes. I learned about Russian Oligarchs, that guys used to wear their kilts racily short and I can only wonder at the sniggering soul who told Major James Fraser that he rocked those tartan leggings.
Next visit in May I will be en route home from Mull and keenly anticipating meeting up with friends. Friends I have only so far met on twitter and who are travelling from Germany, France, London and who knows where else so we can chat and laugh together in the real world. I do so hope the sun shines and we can sit and picnic on the Meadows .....

| A journey is always exciting .... |
| And it is a beautiful journey. One feels at Lancaster it has begun. Then through The Lakes and into the Borders..... |
| Snapped through the car window. A morphing landscape of light and shade |
| We travel economically, but the view from our 'travelodge' window wasn't too poor...... |
| ...Neither was the walk into town. |
| They put a light show on for us and it was here that we stood next to and rather forwardly said 'hi' to @efireball's mate @germatthews....Recently moved to Edinburgh and recognised from photos on twitter |
| This had landed..... |
....from some far off place.
LATER WE CAME ACROSS SOME CAVES THAT LOOKED LIKE THIS |
A night of crazily glorious music ensued. 13 folk with disparate instruments formed 'The Second Hand Marching Band.' Loud and lyrical they celebrated and lamented in turn. A bearded Pictish Trail looked folk yet sounded thrash And there was the lovely Dan the Man aka 'Withered Hand' who supported by a talented line up of guys sang wonderful songs. |
Withered Hand There was not a moment without music as quietly and without ego Kenny Anderson (King Creosote) (DJ for the night) coloured in the spaces
HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL |
THERE'S A CASTLE YOU KNOW

| View from the cafe in Teebay Services on the way home. The BEST motorway services ever! |
